17 June 2013: Summer comes to Lunigiana’s National Parks

Summer is here! And with it the opportunity to explore the numerous national parks that surround Lunigiana. Home to some of the most diverse and beautiful wildlife in Italy, the parks are clustered around the 39 mile long River Magra, which is perfect to explore by boat.

In particular, Montemarcello-Magra Park is worth a visit for the spectacular views alone. Boasting a view over La Spezia Gulf to the west and the River Magra to the east, it is perfect to explore by foot or on horseback.

Another remarkable area is the Il Parco dei Cento Laghi which occupies 22827 acres of mountainous land North East of Parma. Famed for its lakes and abundance of wildlife such as wolves and golden eagles, Il Parco dei Cento Laghi offers visitors an escape from the busy cities of Tuscany to a place of quiet reflection.
